Well Tonic got a bad run of luck the other day. A "friend" of his ACTUALLY hacked his Account info.
I just wanted to tell everyone I know about this problem.
Hackers have found a new way to hack into League of Legends accounts.
Setting up a page that is almost completely identical to the League of Legends homepage.
They tell you about Riot giving away free riot points to certain summoners logging into the website.
Sadly Tonic believed this.
Inputting his account information into the username and password boxes found at the top of the site, next thing he knows... his account was logged into from another location.
The hackers then demand for you to buy them riot points, while holding your account hostage.
NOW! Here is the good news, Tonic is smart enough to log into his alternate account and message the hacker gathering the information needed to prove to Riot that his account was hacked.
Sending a report to riot to recover his account and giving them his I.P. , old account info, and email.
Tonic now has his Account back and is playing hardcore in the Fields of Justice once again.
A word to the wise. Never take a link for the League of Legends home page.
Dont be lazy! Just type the link or save it to your bookmarks for easy access to avoid this same situation.
On another note if this ever happens to you and you need help handling it send a report to the Riot Support Team asap.
